Our Barbell Group Training class is your chance to master the exciting Olympic lifts – the snatch and clean and jerk! This 90-minute class is led by experienced coaches and this class is perfect for all levels, whether you’re a beginner or more advanced. Join us to build strength, technique, and confidence in a welcoming and supportive environment.

Explore our cutting-edge barbell training space equipped with top-notch gear, including brand new Rogue kilo plates and IWF competition bars. Whether you’re honing your skills or seeking a personalized session, our space is yours to create an amazing workout experience on your terms.

Olympic weightlifting is a competitive strength sport where athletes lift a barbell loaded with weight plates from the ground to overhead in two specific ways: the snatch and the clean and jerk, aiming to lift the heaviest weight possible. Here at West Essex Barbell Club, we coach the olympic lifts in a fun and welcoming environment, so you can learn to master the art of olympic lifting whether you’re looking to compete, or simply get stronger and feel empowered in the gym!

Absolutely! We welcome beginners and experts lifters alike!

The ideal number of workouts per week varies depending on your current fitness level and personal goals. We recommend starting with 2 to 4 sessions weekly (this might be a mixture of Barbell and CrossFit!) and adjusting based on how you feel. Your body will let you know when it’s ready for more or when you need to take a break.
