Hey Ladies – Muscles are Awesome

Muscles on women are freaking awesome. They look great, they feel great. Having muscles allows us to do some pretty epic things in the gym, and even carry all the grocery bags from the car… in one trip!

But sometimes we hear things like…

“But I don’t want muscles, I just wanted to be toned.”

or

“I just want to lose weight, not gain muscle.”

Hey, so, I don’t know how to break it to you ladies, but all of this kind of revolves around the same thing. Being “toned” is just another word for having muscle. And when you’re working out with strength-based exercises, you’re gonna gain some muscle. *Gasps*

Which brings me to this nonsense statement – lifting makes you bulky.

Maybe you get scoffed at by friends or even strangers with snarky faces; “Oh, you do CrossFit? Aren’t you worried about looking bulky?” Ummm. No. Because to gain that amount of muscle (especially for women) is extremely difficult. It takes years (literally years) of lifting all the weights and eating all the food to gain that kind of muscle mass.

So don’t worry about your gains, you look great girl.
